Cutting Losses Logo Process

One of the parts I was most excited about when working on the Cutting Losses project was designing the logo myself.
You’ll see three different versions of the logo. In all of them, I tried to incorporate natural elements related to the characters and setting, using earthy tones like yellow, orange, and green.

The first logo, shown above, involved adding color and leaves around typed text to evoke a strong feeling of grass and nature. However, it felt a bit too simple and didn’t stand out as much as I wanted.

The second version was the one I settled on for a long time and thought would be the final. I hand-drew and designed both the lettering and the illustration, shaping the "C" and "L" to resemble a squirrel to connect more closely to Ramji, the main character. I also painted a wood-like texture inside the letters and gave them a rough, natural shape to further emphasize the forest theme.
However, after receiving feedback from professors, I realized that the "C" and "L" were too close together, the similar colors made them harder to distinguish, and the "L" was too short, making the text difficult to read. So, I decided to make further revisions.

In the final version, I moved away from hand-drawn letters and used a typed font. I added a wood texture and detailed decorations around the text to create a cleaner, more polished look. I kept the green-to-yellow-to-orange gradient from the previous design to preserve the original feeling and added a squirrel tail to the logo as a final touch. A black outline was also added around the text to improve readability.
Throughout the process, I truly enjoyed creating the logo, and next time, I’d love to challenge myself further by adding animation to give the logo a more lively and dynamic feel!
